Burns in Gaelic and Scots
"The Lassies' Reply" is a unique recording of the Songs of Robert Burns, performed in both Scots and Gaelic languages by two of Scotland's finest young singers; Shona Donaldson of Tarland (Scots) and Katie Mackenzie of Dingwall (Gaelic). Both singers perform in their own language but also sing each others language and together, to demonstrate that both languages can co-exist side by side in literally perfect harmony. The songs are arranged and performed in a bright, fresh and totally contemporary style, to appeal to both traditional and younger audiences and feature some of Scotland’s finest musicians from both traditional and contemporary musical backgrounds.
An exciting addition to the programme of Cultural events celebrating the Life of Robert Burns in 2009, the Year of Homecoming in Scotland.
